Hi all! We want to take our young friend (early 20's) who is coming to visit out on Saturday night. Would love to stay more local (Cleveland area/Clayton/Garner) but don't mind going into Raleigh also. We are in our 30's with kiddos and only been here little over a year do we have NO idea of the bar/club scene. We don't mind if the venue is geared more toward College age (we can hang with the young crowd, LOL) But would love a good mix. We are just looking for a really good time with something fun going on. The IDEAL situation would be a place that has a live band playing (any type of music), but then has DJ/Top40Music/Dancing inbetween sets. If anyone has ever been to Kelly's in Nags Head that is the kind of venue we'd love. That way it gives a good mix. The live music for us oldies and the dancing for our young one. ANY suggestions would be great. Thanks a bunch! -K
HEY! I don't know ANYTHING about clubs or even were ya'll would go. Around here you've got Club House Barmuda Triangle (on hwy 70) Send a PM to Steve, he'll know.
Bogarts has a DJ and they clear out tables for a dance floor Solas (multi level club) Both in Raleigh.
Tony's Bourbon Street in Cary is GOOD FUN! and dancing and a live band. One of the best bands in the area (in my opinion) is playing Saturday night...'Crush' they are awesome and the dance floor will be jumping! FUN TIME right there....and good food and drinks! http://tonysbourbonstreet.com/
Bogarts is pretty nice - but the 2 times I've been, it got really crowded and a 'meat market' after 9pm. I'm talking SO crowded that you couldn't move or get on the dance floor - much less dance - it was RIDICULOUS!!
oh and Michael Dean's in Raleigh....awesome place with great, food, drinks, dance floor, and atmosphere! they will have live band playing too.....fun fun! hard to beat 'Crush' playing though at Tony's..... http://www.michaeldeans.com/default.asp
Though not exactly kid freindly (none after 10pm) McKinley's has a band every Friday and Saturday night, and this coming Saturday it is going to be Brad Benson, which is usually a great show. Craig
Legend's is a gay bar. Unique is an appropriate word. Check out ZSpotlight.com or NewRaleigh.com. Boylan Bridge Brewpub is a great new place to hangout w/ music, or Flying Saucer, or Solas is a nice place with it all.. Or you can stay local and go to the Flipside on mainstreet in Clayton for some good music and drinks, check out thecoffeemill.com for their website.
It may not be your thing, but Tir Na Nog usually has some bands playing and can be a lot of fun. I'll be there tomorrow night for a birthday party!
Tir Na Nog is also a nice place, has live entertainment - not really a club scene http://www.tirnanogirishpub.com/ but it's across the street from Rum Runners which is a club http://www.rumrunnersusa.com/asp/locations/location_details.asp?id=7
Thank you guys for the suggestions. Keep em' coming if anyone has more. KellBell- Tony's Bourbon Streetsounds fun! Do they actually play dj/dance music in between the bands sets? Thanks Craig - That's okay they don't let kids in after 10. Though we have kids, we have no intention of bringing them out with us Saturday. Adults only night! Thanks everyone! -K
KB~ No girl, 'Crush' plays music you can dance to! that's what makes it even more fun! You will want to rest in between sets. LOL. actually I am not sure if music is playing in between or not. kb
Well, we actually just ended up at The Clubhouse right close to home @ 40/42 when we found out they had Karaoke on Saturday nights. That is what we used to do together all the time in VA and that is what she really wanted to do more than listen to a band or go dancing. We actually had a really great time! People were nice, they had some dance music in between singers and the singing was pretty good. And to top it off it was close to home!! Gotta love that! One of these times we have a friend in from VA we do plan on going into Raleigh. I think Rum Runners sounds like a lot of fun! Thank you all so much for your ideas! -K
