Get Em' There Transportation http://www.getemthere.org/index.html Just to be nit-picky... shouldn't it be Get 'Em There Transportation instead? Anyway, if anyone needs a ride for their kid and can afford it, you might want to check 'em out.
http://www.getemthere.org/pricing.html They've got to be kidding! $15 one way for less than a 10 mile radius??
Well would like to listen to the community and are willing to change our prices..how much does the community think is reasonable?
Not to be disrespectful, but I'm all about sharing my opinion. You asked for it, you got it. I wouldn't pay per ride to get my child somewhere. If she had a weekly commitment, say to dance class twice a week and I couldn't get her there, I might would consider using your services, only if I couldn't get another parent to let her tag along with them. Even then, you're better off to approach it from the aspect of, "Picking up kids from Dance Art on Mon, Wed and Fri nights, will deliver them home (within a 10 mile radius) for $15 a week. If you're talking about driving them to and from school, it's going to be the same scenario. You need to think bulk, how many kids can I carry at one time, in order to make it affordable. Who is really going to call you out of the blue and say, "I need a ride for my kid just this once, and although I don't know you from Adam, could you go to my house, pick them up and then bring them home?" It's a decent concept, but I'm not sure it's been thought out properly enough, plus I'm cheap. $30 for a 20 mile round-trip ride is a bit crazy when that will buy me a full tank of gas.
Thank you for your reply Ms. Jennifer and I understand everything you are saying. We do have contracts now where we pick kids up 2 - 3 times a week from school to where they need to go. (As well as adults). Our service is not for everyone and we do understand that. We certainly do appreciate the contracts that we have now and hope to continue with them. Because of the great service that we have provided, our clients have been very satisfied with our service thus far. We meet each and every client before we provide transportation service for them and we are in constant contact with the parents, the children or the adults to make sure they are satisfied with our services and to date we have had no complaints. We will however re-evaluate our pricing and quite possibly make a change. I appreciate your response and maybe one day we can be of service to you. Thanks again.
what's the current IRS limits? $0.48 a mile? Or basically $5 for the 10 mile trip, you figure another 10 miles to go to the client and back to base, that's another $5. Plus we have to pay somebody for their time (again including time to and from the base) probably another $5, I figure if it is just a single passenger you are lucky to make a buck! Checked my reimbursement rate and it is actually at $0.44 a mile, my point still stands.
Who gets .48 a mile? I'm lucky to get .33!! I still say at those rates, if it were a regular occurence (say transportation to and from sports practice 3 times a week) you're coming out cheaper to slip a parent an extra $20 for gas and have your child ride with them. Hey, she wanted my opinion, I gave it to her. We're all entitiled, right? LOL
Actually, once I went back and re-read what you wrote I could understand your concern even more. No...it would not be $30 for a round trip 20 mile trip. If a person wanted a round trip service, it would only be $5 more per ride. I did not realize that was not on the web site and it has since then been added. Thanks for bringing that to my attention in a round about way. Hope this makes it better to understand. We have updated the web-site expeditiously.
I re posted, it got knocked from $0.48 to $0.44 about 6 months ago Your opinion was valid (and you are definitely entitled 8) ) my post looked at it from a business perspective, I doubt if I would charge this little. Of course if it is too high you also go out of business, got to find that balance and weigh a number of factors to see if it is worth it. By the way what is entitiled, sounds painfull
