Folks, had to say goodbye to my boon companion of 13 years, Madison the Wonderdog. Raised her from 5 weeks old, and it was tough to have her euthanized. And I feel terrible. Haven't posted this weekend just commiserating about it. The Vets and staff and Clayton Animal were so wonderful and caring and sympathetic. It's been a tough weekend without my bud........ Carl
Carl, My heart goes out to you. I'm so sorry about your doggie. I had to make the same decision 3 months ago and I know how bad it hurts. :-( Brenda
So sorry to hear about your Madison, just keep all the good times close at heart and know she's waiting to see you again over the Rainbow Bridge.
Many of us here have experienced the same things recently and know just how terrible it hurts. I am so sorry, and wish you peace as you begin to heal. It's not a pain I would wish on anybody
Sorry for your loss H6. The hardest decision for pet parents yet the most important as well. She no doubt is resting easy now and keeping your spot warm!
thanks for the kind words and sympathy. And for reminding me of the Rainbow Bridge...I had to google it, but found it. It does give me Hope! Good Week to all!
Poem from when I lost my 16 yo cat 5 years ago. Still brings tears to my eyes. The Last Battle If it should be that I grow frail and weak And pain should keep me from my sleep, Then will you do what must be done? For this -- the last battle -- can't be won. You will be sad I understand, But don't let grief then stay your hand, For on this day, more than the rest, Your love and friendship must stand the test. We have had so many happy years, What is to come can hold no fears. You wouldn't want me to suffer so. When the time comes, please, let me go. Take me to where my needs they'll tend, Only, stay with me until the end. And hold me firm and speak to me Until my eyes no longer see. I know in time you will agree It is a kindness you do to me. Although my tail its last has waved, From pain and suffering I have been saved. Don't grieve that it must be you Who has to decide this thing to do; We've been so close -- we two -- these years, Don't let your heart hold any tears. Smile, for we walked together for a little while. -- Unknown
I am so very sorry for your loss. I think most of us who have pets - well they are our children. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
Sorry for your loss!! AL- I have never read that one before.... I am all choked up now and I didnt even lose a pet recently!!!
H6 - I'm so sorry for your loss. Our furry friends are so much like children, it really hurts your heart when you have to say goodbye. I do believe, like some have mentioned, as does "The Rainbow Bridge," we will see them again one day. Until then, hold close all of your fond memories, as they will one day soon outweigh all of the sadness you feel right now.
{{{Carl}}} Wish there was something to say that would ease the pain of loss right now  . Big, big hugs to you and C6. Frogger
I am also very sorry for your loss. It is so hard to have a little one who is sick and even more difficult to have to make that decision. My little guy has been having a tough time lately. I know the heartbreak you must feel. My prayers are with you.
So sorry for your loss. Our furry, four-legged friends have a way of wrapping themselves around our hearts, don't they? AL, that poem was beautiful, made me cry. Thanks.
Oh, I am so sorry . I do know how much it hurts. I had to put down a dog back in 2000 and I still cry when I think of her. Even though I have another poodle that my mother in law gave me, nothing can take her place. Know that she (and assuming it is a she with the name Madison) will always be with you, in your heart and in your memories and you can find comfort in remembering the good times and how much she loved you. As long as you carry her in your heart, she is never truly gone. God Bless and know you are not alone!
