I'm one of the room Mom's for my son's class and we had originally planned to have our class party at 1:30 on Dec. 21st (the day before the Christmas break) - but Today I was told that school would be letting out early that day and we needed to reschedule our party. I did not realize school let out early that day. Fortunately this isn't a big deal for me because I work from home - I just thought I'd mention that it was a possibility for those who will need to make arrangements for a sitter or to get off work a little earlier that day. The early dismissal may even be old news for some - I just didn't realize school was letting out early on December 21st until I was told that today. I'm sure my son will be tickled to get the holidays started off a little earlier than expected. I could be wrong about the early dismissal - but that is what I was told today.

Melynda, What school are your kids in? Mine are in McGee's. I thought that they had oof only 12/22 to 01/01/07. Are different schools doing different things? I thought Johnston County had to be all the same.

My son goes to West View. I honestly don't know if this is county wide or just our school. I could be wrong - but I thought the entire county kept the same schedule?? Like I said, I hadn't heard that the kids were getting out early until I was talking with my sons teacher this morning. Like you, I thought the kids had from 12/22 - 1/1/07 out for vacation. I didn't realize they were getting out early on the 21st. I could be wrong about the early dismissal - but that was the reason I was told we needed to reschedule our Dec. 21st class party.

Well, I am a teacher and I have not heard anything about getting out early. I will definately check on that tomorrow, that sounds like a great idea. The kids are already super hyper.

I teach and found out from a co-worker today! She found out from her son's school! Gotta love that communication! I'm definitely not complaining though...Merry Christmas to me!

West View is getting out early as far as I know. Dixon isn't, as far as I know.

I work for west view, and becuase of the bus drivers and bus shortage, we are on a staggard bell schedule. Meaning all middle schools and high school will be getting out earlier than elem. Then elementary schools will be dismissed after 130. There is no afterschool care for these kids either. So if you are enrolled in afterschool care, west veiw will not have it that day. It is a litte late, and unexpected. But Princ Vetrano made the call.

I just called McGees Elem and they are dismissing at 1:30. She said they have not announced it yet... what are they waiting for?? (Christmas??) Sorry I couldn't resist.

Luckily I work from home but I know that is not the case for everyone. They really should put that on the calendar for us to plan on.

Ok I am seriously confused. My youngest goes to Dixon Elementary. He said they are getting out at 1:30 and my other goes to McGees Middle and he said they are getting out at 2:30.

I talked with a teacher at Four Oaks Elem. I cannot remember if she said they are dismissing at 1:00 or 1:30 but do have early dismissal on Thurs.

My understanding is that all schools will be dismissed by 1:30 pm.

But what about the buses? There isn't enough to accommadate all the schools at one time.

The middle schools get out and as soon as they finish the route they will go directly to elementary schools.

Thanks. Just in the previous years they rode in the daycare van so I wasn't sure how the buses worked when school let out early.

    Here's a novel idea..........

If you're unsure, call the school. I'm sure the person at the front desk will be able to answer your questions.

    :)

Was planning on doing that but thought I would ask on here first instead of contributing to flooding the phones at the school.

I understand what you mean! There are just some things I'd rather hear from the horse's mouth if ya know what I mean! LOL

Maybe next time the schools will send home information in advance, so the phones don't get flooded.
