Would anyone be interested in adopting a senior Shih Tzu? I acquired her from CL a few months ago. She was in very rough shape. Evidently, someone found her in Cary and brought her to the Willow Springs area. Needless to say, they never looked for her owners. Well, those people moved a week or so later. What did they do with her? They set her free. Yes, they left a 12 y/o Tzu to wander the hollows. A kindly neighbor found her and took her in. She didn't have the funds for the multitude of much needed vetting, but did bring her back from a rather emaciated state. This is where I came in. She had posted her on CL in need of a home. Being she was free, I was very concerned about someone just taking a "free" Shih Tzu. Because of her age and condition she would require alot of $$$ and care. If she were to end up in a shelter, she would have most assuredly been put down. The kind lady agreed to let me have her. I immediately took her in to the vet. She had a horrible skin infection which caused most of her fur to fall out. A ruptured ulcer in her left eye had caused her eyeball to collapse. She was missing a front paw. Oh, lets not forget her poor little teeth were in such bad shape she needed 2 rounds of Clavamox. A month or so later I scheduled our senior lady for surgery. Dr. Malocha removed the eye, performed a dental, removed 4 teeth, and closed a cyst on her right hip. After a couple of weeks she came back to life. She actually started to play and was overall just happier with life. This brings us up to present day. I've been looking to find Gertie a great home for the last few months. I'm in NO hurry, but I would like to find her furever home. She is housebroken and gets along well with other cats and dogs. She would do best in a home with other furbabies. In addition, she would not do well crated or confined. If you think you or someone you know would be a good match, please let me know. Although I've spent a good bit on Gertie I am not looking to be reimbursed. First and foremost I'm concerned with Gertie having a great home. Being she is fostered, a home visit will be required as well as an adoption application with contract.
 Ready, this one has your name all over it!!! Great job getting her to such a great state!!! Does she have a cataract in her remaining eye? Poor baby. Sorry I dont anyone looking for semi toothless, 3 pawed, one eyed, old dog, but I will put the word out to my rescue friends. Sorry Misunderstood, I couldnt help trying to joke... I really do think you are wonderful for taking her and helping her so much.:hurray::hurray:
The remaining eye also had an ulcer. Without medication, she would have lost it as well. The eye has some clouding and scar tissue from the ulceration. When I saw the ad I knew I had to help her. I was so worried that someone would see the "free" part without thinking of the bald, one-eyed, and paw missing factors. Honestly, she has alot of life left in her. The Dr's are always surprised at how strong and spunky she is.
What a darlin'. I say this every time, but "if I wasn't already 3 pets over the HOA limit!..." I really mean it, with this one and the blue kitty. They both look so sweet. You'll find someone's heart to melt if you keep posting that precious picture.
Over the limit... hehe. I think I have an invisible neon sign on my forehead that only critters can read, "SUCKER, Get her attention!"
Awwwww, so sweet! No way, no how... not right now! I don't think my little Diva Pom would allow another old female in HER house anyway.
