So, yesterday we stopped there to get gas at about 11 am. The pumps there offer you a deal on the price of gas if you buy a car wash from them. Since our car was in desperate need of a bath, we purchased the 10.00 wash along with about 40.00 in gas. We drive over to the car wash area only to find that it's blocked off by cones. My husband went inside to get our money back, and was told by the kids working in there that they were not authorized by the owner to give refunds. He asked them why the carwash wasn't open, and they said it was due to the "cold weather". It was 53 degrees by our thermometer in the car at that time. The only friendly advice the cashier could give us was that the car wash is good for 14 days, which in my view is not an acceptable answer, and is basically what my husband told them. They had no idea if we were just passing through the area or what, and honestly didn't seem to give a crap one way or another. I mean a note on the pumps would have been nice at least. They tried to call the owner (I assume the owner, he was the one they said could authorize giving us back the 10.00) but he wasn't available. So my husband got his number and we called shortly thereafter and got his voicemail. We left him a message but so far no call back. Poor, poor way to do business, and they won't get any more of mine! Sure it's only 10.00, but its MY 10.00..I don't go to Food Lion and pay for my groceries and get them 14 days later....Just FYI to all....

It is common for car washes to be closed during cold weather. It is also common knowledge why. Ice can collect in a car wash and can stratch the paint on a car when in operation. If you had gotten your car wash and if by some random chance your car had been scratched would we now be listening to you complain about the gas station having to paint your car and how they should have had a sign warning you of the fact? Maybe the station should have listed a sign, but how far should companies have to go to protect us from ourselves. Yes, you are owed your $10.00. I am not disputing it. I am sure you will get it back.

Note: that's why I said it was 53 degrees out. The fact that they didn't have signs up telling me before I wasted the 10.00 THEN were not able to give me the money back is my main complaint. Not the fact that it was closed due to alleged cold weather. AND the fact that the owner hasn't bothered to return our call or try to make it right. THAT is why "you're listening to me complain". And I will keep on complaining until I get my 10.00.

thanks for the heads up. I just won't buy gas there. And if you saw our vehicles, you'd know that I've never paid for a car wash there either..lol

I would be mad as well. They should have posted a sign or given the money back. Thats just the right action to do for better customer service.
I never go there anymore due to the vacuum cleaner they have. ( No sign as well) It took my money and when I went in for a refund they told me they couldn't give my money back. I looked at them and mentioned that if you dont care about you customers then you will never get another dime of my money. Thats been about three years ago!

I don't go to either of the stations at 40/210 as their gas is always at least 10 cents higher than 40/42. There is a really good new carwash just behind Shell.

I know, we actually drove through the new car wash behind the Shell first (it was working in the frigid weather  ) and almost washed the car there but decided that since we needed gas as well, we'd just get it and the gas at the same time. We'll have to check it out!!

I can't remember if it's the station next to McD's or the one across the street, but one of them has a sign that says there's a min purchase for credit card.... I told them they need to read their merchant agreement w/Visa.... that is not allowed... they didn't care.
