Hello everyone. I was wondering if someone knows of a place we can take sign language as a family? We have 7 children, 2 being home just 2 months now. We found out our youngest son, 4yo has Usher's Syndrome. He is deaf and will eventually go blind. We need to learn as a famliy sign language so we can communicate w/ him. He needs to learn it as well. Is there a place besides the community college that will teach sign to families? If you know of any places, please do let us know. He is on hearing aide trials now (not going well) and after MRI/ ABR results yesterday, looks like he will be fitted w/ cochlear over the summer. However, still have to learn sign as it will be years before he'll be able to verbalize. Thanks in advance for any places you may recommend. Best wishes, stephanie.
That would be cool. I need to take signing lessons. I always thought it was cool for communicating. My meme is hard of hearing. She reads lips. So we have to clearly move them when we talk to her. She is 93 though and lives on her own. Takes absolutely no meds, not even aspirin. If you have a headache she will put you to bed. bless her heart. I pity the day....I cant say the rest of that sentence. makes me sad...
Tit it sounds like we almost have the same grandma. Mine will be 97 in July (if she doesn't give up) and the drs can't find a thing wrong with her except that she's almost 97! :-(
