FOUR OAKS-- Eight members of the South Johnston High School class of 2005, and two members of the present senior class have earned the designation of AP Scholar by the College Board in recognition of their exceptional achievement on college-level Advanced Placement Program Exams. These students took the test in May 2005 after completing challenging college-level courses at South Johnston. The College Board recognizes several levels of achievement based on students' performance on AP exams. Approximately 18% of the 15,000 students who took AP Exams last year performed at a sufficiently high level to merit this recognition. Six students qualified by the AP Scholar Award by completing three or more AP Examinations with grades of 3 or higher. The are Alicia Allen, Caitlin Baker, Morgan Cherry, Brittany Higgins, and Kenneth Rooks (class of 2005) and Emily Carter (class of 2006). Two students qualified for the AP Scholar With Honor Award by earning an average grade of least 3.25 on all AP Exams taken, and grades of 3 or higher on four or more of these exams. They are Trish Melendez and Tiffany Phipps (class of 2005). Congratulations to these outstanding students!
