  1. The Downtown Smithfield Development Corporation and the Smithfield Parks and Recreation Department hope that all area residents will come out to Smithfield's Annual Friends of the 4th Celebration and fireworks display, scheduled for Wednesday, July 2. The celebration will again be held on South Third Street in the heart of Downtown Smithfield.

Beginning at 6:30pm, the celebration will feature musical entertainment from The Coco Loco Party Band. Games and activities hosted by the Smithfield Parks and Recreation Department will include face painting, sidewalk chalk, and crafts. Attendees will also be able to cool down thanks to Water Wars, the ultimate water balloon game. Downtown Smithfield restaurants will offer a variety of food. The independence celebration will conclude with a traditional fireworks display at 9:30pm.

The Coco Loco Party Band is a six-member group of professional musicians and entertainers from across the nation. This talented and versatile band always offers a fun and entertaining performance with a variety of music that pleases a crowd.

The Friends of the 4th Celebration is sponsored by the Downtown Smithfield Development Corporation, Smithfield Parks and Recreation Department, Stevens Sausage, Agri Supply, Carolina Packers, the Johnston County Visitors Bureau, and the Downtown Smithfield businesses.

For more information about the Friends of the 4th Celebration, please contact Sarah Edwards, Executive Director of the Downtown Smithfield Development Corporation at (919) 934-0887.
