Subject: Sheet Sets - Please, please, please

    Hi, all,

I know I'm always asking for stuff ... sorry! Our company is still
    short 70
sheet sets. Normally the military would provide the guys with temporary
    sheet
sets. However, because we have a huge number of guys coming home within
    a 7
day period that would normally be spread out over 4 - 6 weeks, we have a
shortage. This means that our single guys will have to come home, sign
    for a set
of sheets, make their bed, get up the next morning, unmake their bed,
    wash the
sheets, return them to Supply, and find time in their first day home to
    go to
work and then to go and buy sheets (and since so many will be buying
    them at
the same time, it is VERY likely that our PX (our on-base department store)
    will simply run out).

So, we're trying our best to have sheet sets to give every single soldier.
This will mean that we can wash them and make their beds for them ahead
    of time
... which means they don't come home after 365 days of deployment and 6
    hard
months of combat, exhausted and dreaming of sleep, only to find that they
still have to wait in line to sign out sheets and make their bed. If
    everyone
I've sent this message to sends one sheet set and then sends this e-mail
    on to 4
or 5 more people who also send one set a piece, every soldier will be
    covered.
So, not only will they have a set to keep - but, we'll also be able to
    make
their beds ahead of their arrival so that they can simply come home and
    fall
    into bed.

We need single (twin) sheet sets that contain a fitted sheet, a flat
    sheet, &
a pillow case. Gently used sets are welcome!!! Even if you purchase a new
set, it doesn't have to be fancy ... a cheap set from Wal Mart will feel
wonderful to these guys who've been sleeping in beds full of sand for a
    year! If
you're planning on sending a set, please e-mail me as soon as possible
    so that
we know to plan on your donation. Our time is quickly running out and
    we need
to know that we have every soldier covered. The sheets will need to be
    mailed
no later than Saturday, October 14th (about a week and a half from now).

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!!!!!!! !!!

    Hugs,
    Brannan

For anyone that receives this e-mail as a forward and doesn't know me - I'm
an FRG (Family Readiness Group) leader for C Co 1-6 INF which is based in
Germany. My husband and the unit he's part of are currently serving
    their 2nd
rotation in Iraq. They spent their first 15 month deployment securing a
    sector in
Baghdad and dealing with Al Sadr's militia. Now they are serving in the Al
Anbar province. These are guys who work long, hard, dangerous days in
    order to
safeguard us. They are proud infantrymen who deserve every bit of
    support we
can give them. Thank you in advance for your kindness and generosity.

ncmom, do you know the person who sent this e-mail from Germany? If you buy and donate sheets, they'll have to be shipped by air, won't they? Maybe several of us could each give you a little money toward purchasing and shipping some sheets, would that work? Are you willing to take the collection & do the shopping & the shipping?

I will ask my son, who is currently stationed in Germany, what his sheet situation is.

But I've seen these before, usually it's a scam of some sort.

I did do a google search for grapevinepromo and can see that this person is responsible for several recipes on various sites.

Brannan is a cousin's daughter (2nd cousin) of someone I do know.

APO mail can be sent through the regular postal service.

The question would be whether the regular mail would get the package there in time.

I can only assume she means US Postal mail but someone could e-mail her to find out.
