My stimulus check is scheduled to go in my account this Friday 5/16. Which is loveley but here's the problem.

Last year, I opened a new account at the same bank. I gave all my new info to our accountant at work who does the payroll so all my pay goes in ok. He also does my taxes every year but unfortunately did not transfer the new account info to my tax info in his computer. Neither one of us realized that until AFTER he filed my taxes which meant my original tax refund was slated to go to OLD account via direct deposit. Well, I called the bank and they put all these notes on the old account to make sure it got diverted to my new account and it worked out great because the IRS told me that they cannot change any account info now until I file taxes again next year. I got my refund with no problem.

The problem now is with the stimulus check. Incidentally, I did not do a rapid refund or RAL loan so I am sure to have a direct deposit. But I called the bank, YET AGAIN, to do the same thing I had done for the refund. They told me they could at first. So I kept up with them so they know about when it is to hit. Now they tell me that OLD account has been purged. When the stimulus check tries to hit, it will have no choice but to go back to IRS and I would have to wait for a check. Of course I am NUMB.......I asked them could they UNpurge it or reopen somehow but the man said no.

So the question is, is there anything else I can do?? Does anyone know of anything??? Should I call the bank back and get a higher up or call them the night it is to hit and have they to watch for it? Is there a way that this man may not be aware of to do it?

i would call the bank's corporate office to verify the info you were given and sometimes they do have more power than the branch offices to change things, good luck.

Unless I misunderstood all the newspaper articles, the checks are only direct deposited, IF you filed your taxes electronically this year. Otherwise, stimulus checks come in the mail.

Well, I tried folks........The old account is purged and there is nothing that can be done.... But they will mail it to me in like 2 to 3 weeks. I will not have to wait until July like the check would come if I did not have direct deposit. So I guess that's a relief. The IRS told me they want to get things out as quickly and efficiently as possible because they don't want stimulus checks floating all over the place either. Makes more work for them......

KACI!!!!!!! Guess what!!! I called the corporate office and talked with several people and they actually did a few maneuvers (did spell that right?) and they are 95% sure it will go in the correct account! Now, I am being optimistic and not taking it as FACT but 95% is better than none. thanks for the idea cause I was so down yesterday I could have walked under a pregnant ant.....I never thought about calling corporate.

Cool, glad i could help, i am a firm believer if i don't get what i need with one person, just keep going a little higher each time. In corporate America each level has the power to only do what they are allowed. Hope it all works out for ya and your money is in there soon:hurray:

go to irs.gov, click on where is my refund, then scroll down to the "where is my stimulas check" enter the main social, filing status and # of exemptions and it will give you a status of your check and let you know if it is being mailed or direct deposited.
