BENSON-- The Palladium, the yearbook at South Johnston High School, won an Award of Distinction rating among Yearbooks in Medium Schools throughout North Carolina at the recent North Carolina Scholastic Media Association (NCSMA) Summer Institute at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. South Johnston was also recognized for a first place award in Yearbook Advertising and an honorable mention in yearbook theme. The Palladium editor for the 2005 yearbook was Kasey Parker of Four Oaks. The Palladium advisor is Cora Godwin. All were recognized at the annual institute, held June 20-23 at the UNC-CH School of Journalism and Mass Communication. High school journalism students and teachers from across the state participated. The institute includes training by UNC journalism faculty and other professional journalists. The Oracle, the newspaper of South Johnston High School, won an Honor rating among Newspapers in Medium Schools at the recent North Carolina Scholastic Media Association (NCSMA) Summer Institute at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The newspaper also won an honorable mention in newspaper sports reporting and photography among medium schools throughout the state. The editor for The Oracle was Anna Jo Parker of Four Oaks and co-editor was Amanda Johnson of Benson. The advisor for The Oracle is Cora Godwin. All were recognized at the annual institute, held June 20-23 at the UNC-CH School of Journalism and Mass Communication. High School journalism students and teachers from across the state participated.
