I tried using the search feature to check out previous posts and if there are some I did something wrong. lol I saw that there is a clinic in Wake County at the SPCA and it appears an appointments necessary..but is there anything similar here in Johnston County? A friend suggested Snips but I didn't find anything on them either. Is anyone familiar with Snips? I have custody of my grandpuppy for a time and we have run into a situation where the vet said she should be spayed. So am looking for something a little more cost effective than the vet. I have already given the vet a nice bit of change. I want to have this done before she goes back to my daughter's house. I just want to make sure she does alright through it ...I am not working right now so am home all day with the little sweetie. (my my my--you can tell I raised some kids!)
The low cost for spay & neuter is SNAP of NC, not SNIP, which may be why you coudn't find anything on google. There's also POP-NC that is mobile unit and goes to Garner. I think the SPCA location is the cheapest of all though. The above locations come periodic times to local area --- dates will show on their websites OR you can call them to find out when they'll be in the area. Good luck - its an awesome thing you're setting out to do by having pup spayed. PS.. almost forgot. In Dunn there is a vet who does it REAL cheap .. Vets for Pets or sumpin like that -- google them to get their #. Some people Like him - some don't.. (its one or the other). I've had a foster spayed @ that location before & no problems with their services.
Thank you very much. I feel so bad for this little girl. The lady my daughter bought her from said all shots had been done and she had been wormed. About a month after she brought her home I was keeping her coz dd was working a lot of hours. Found she had very bad case of worms. Had her treated for that. Then noticed she was scratching a lot but just in a couple of places. Took her on to the vet and she has mites. Not the scabies ones that can be transferred to man and beast but it is a hereditary situation. Vet suggested we have her spayed to keep her from passing the gene on to more babies. So will have it done while she is with me as I am home and can look after her. I know she will probably get along a lot better with this than I will. lol I want this done fairly soon so I might as well call Wake County SPCA...
A female dog under 25 lbs runs 110.00 at Carolina Crossing Vet Clinic. Includes rabies vaccine and if needed distemper/parvo. You can get in right away versus a 3 month wait for the SPCA.
Thank you SnuffyJo, That is what I was looking for. I got a quote from our current vet and it was around $240 and all her shots are current already. I will check in to this one.
Wake Co SPCA is only $45, but it takes a while to get in. At those prices, there is a month or so wait.
I called them first and she told me at this time the wait is until February. This little girl is pretty near time go to into heat for the first time and I am afraid if my daughter takes her home that she will tether her outside so she can do other things while baby girl tends to her personal business and she will wind up with litter. She does not need to have puppies as they could get the same mite problem she has. It is passed from dam to puppy.
