Spongy Ground

I'm looking at a house and really like it, but I have noticed that the front yard is kind of spongy and feels damp (even in the afternoon Sun). The back yard ground is firm.

Anyone know what might be causing this? I'm guessing it's where the leech field is, but the well is also in the front yard, so maybe not.

Is it something to be concerned about and/or should I get a landscaper out to check it out?

Moles cause the ground to be spongy. A lot of moles running around underground can make the whole yard like that.

get a plot of the property to see where all your lines are running for water and sewer, we had one that was cut when CP&L put in power.

Underground spring? We had several of those and ended up digging a pond.

If it's an underground spring it will ALWAYS cause problems. In the summertime the mosquitos will carry you away. Plus, it's hard to keep the grass cut near them because the ground is always soggy. I'm speaking from experience here.

Definitely a concern. Worth having a professional look at. You might also want to make sure the lines from the well aren't leaking. Speaking from experience. 8)
