Anyone else's land line phone service out? I called them and was told that there was a wide spread outage due to a major cable being cut, and that it will be fixed by 3pm TOMORROW. It must have gone out between 3 and 4. I was home around 3, phone worked, left and got back around 4 and it was out. I can't believe it's going to take that long to fix it, I'm not too happy about that.
Well it's about 11pm and it's back on. Glad we didn't have to wait til tomorrow. LOL Ready, I had SO many problems with our Sprint phone service when we lived in VA, it would go out if a single drop of rain fell! It was HORRIBLE! Since I have had Sprint here, no problems, this is the first time. I still don't like them that much though. LOL
I feel for ya. They have a Monoopoly in my neighborhood. No other phone company is in there to switch too which sucks. Our phone went out several years ago while my wife was pregnant with our son. I called (Cell service limited) and told them about it and they said it would be fixed NEXT WEEK b/c it was not a priority since I was the only one reporting it. I tried to explain that I was calling for the whole neighborhood b/c THERE PHONES WERE OUT!!! But they just did not get it. What really irked me was after all this they had the nerve to say "Well sir, I see you are eligable for our highspeed internet...blah blah blah. They could not even get my phone working!!!
Ours is still working. I did hear two people yesterday talking about their phone being out. We are considering a switch to SunRocket. The reviews we've found so far are better than Vontage. They offer some great features. Does anyone use SunRocket and can report their experience?
We are in the same boat, they are the only phone service available here. Well, now there is Vonage and TWC Digital Phone too.
My Bellsouth DSL has been out all day until now at the store. The same thing happend on Saturday and it was out all day long. I fussed and got two months credit for the outage. They cost me alot of money with it being down. I have to use the computer for bill payments and such. I lost over $200 on Saturday and about $100 today due to their lack of service.
Yes. I think it offers some extra features but my husband has done most of the research so I cannot say for sure. There are many internet phone companies out there. Just be sure to read the fine print before you sign up to try them out. IF you don't like the service ... you want to be able to cancel without penalty.
Just found out yesterday that Embarq & Dish Network are merging....call for your discounts today! Saved $5/mo on our Dish package AND $20+ on the phone line. YW!
The last part of Sprint left my house this week! I finally switched cell service. Whoohoo!! I've never liked them, going all the way back to Carolina Telephone (and that's a loooong time ago)! Frogger
My phone has not been out at my house but I was wondering how people like the DSL? I had it along time ago and switched to Roadrunner but my promo is running up and I don't want to pay $45/month. I say the DSL advertised for $25 and that is less than I paid for it several years ago. My mom has it and she thinks it is slower than Roadrunner.
Funny you posted this. While I cannot stand the fact Sprint/EMBARQ has a monopoly in my neighborhood they do and there is nothing I can do about. I actually signed up for the DSL special today and get online on Thursday. The price really cannot be beat when your only choices are that or Road Runner. I will let you know how I like it. BTW I spoke with an EXTERMELY helpful representaive who took the time to expain everything. If you have questions PM me and I will give you his e-mail.
i work in the telecommunications industry and I can tell you sometimes it takes a day or so to fix a cable cut. It just depends on how big of a cable was cut and how much of it was damaged.. It also depends if that company is unionized or not. If so, they got a guy for every detail of the job which takes crap longer to get fix IMO. But I will agree, Sprint got the worst telephone service out there as I have had in the last 8 years around here. FYI, the DSL service that Sprint offers for the price way slower than Roadrunner. To get roughly the same transfer rate, you would have to upgrade to the plus service which cost roughly the same as RR
If you want to save some $ ... ask for Roadrunner *lite*. It is a wee bit slower than regular roadrunner but worth the savings!!! You may have to convince the customer service person that they indeed do offer it. It is not something they choose to advertise.
Just my 2 cents worth - or my $200 dollars worth of advice - don't sign up with SunRocket - they seem to have some major issues with their billing department. My apologies for the long post - but I do want buyers to beware. Hopefully other have had a good experience with this company - but I definately have not. In May I receive a sales call from SunRocket (Although our # is listed with the National Do Not Call List) The service sounded like a good deal & I agreed to a 30day FREE trial. In order to get the free trial I had to give them a credit card # and like a BIG DUMMY - I gave them the information. Within days I'd heard enough bad information concering SunRocket to cancel the temporary free service before I even got to test it. Even though I cancelled the FREE trial service I was charged twice for the next month of service $24.95 X 2 = $49.90. I called & let them know they had mistakenly charged me & that I WAS NOT A SUNROCKET CUSTOMER. I use AT&T local & long distance for my calling - not SUNROCKET. After spending more than 2 hours on the phone being put on hold & being transferred to various departments they apologized & said they would take care of the problem & credit my card. As of today I've been arguing with Sunrocket for a few months. They have charged me more than $200 in service fees - even though I've never used their service. This week alone Ive probably spent > 5 hours on the phone discussing the matter with various SunRocket employees. As always they have promised to close the account & credit my card. I had to laugh - today they send me an email saying the following: ******************************************************* Dear Melynda XXXX, Thank you for signing up for SunRocket service. This important message is to inform you that SunRocket will have to close your account due to E911 regulations. SunRocket is required to provide its members with 911 service that transmits your address and phone number automatically to the 911 operator. In order to do this, SunRocket must validate that your household number is in the same rate center as your service address, and ensure 911 coverage is available for that rate center. Based on the service address you provided at sign-up, SunRocket does not have E911 coverage available in your area. Therefore, we had to close your account and will refund any charges that were incurred. We appreciate your business and thank you for being a SunRocket member. Sincerely, SunRocket Member Services**************************************************** The above is just one of the numerous tickets I have entered with this company. So far I haven't seen any sign that my account has been credited - but hopefully they did actuallyget around to finally turning off the service that I never actually had? Unfortunately, the "summary" in the above email from SunRocket describing how my issue was adressed seems to be blank? I did keep many of the numerous emails that went back & forth between this company & myself. I also recorded some of the calls where they admitted they should have never charged me. Hopefully by Monday there will actually be $200 sitting in my account from these crooks. Each month I recieved an email like the one below explaining that I was going to be billed for a service I was not using. Each month I called or eamiled them to remind them of their mistake. Each month I was charged not just once - but twice?? I was told that somehow they had set up an account with a bad email address but they didn't know who was receiving the email - but they were charging my bank account. Oops - just another SunRocket error? I'm not sure if this 2nd account was turned off finally today or not - I don't get the cancellation or billing notices for the 2nd account and Sunrocket hasn't seemed concerned enough over the past few months to resolve the issue. Heck, I couldn't even mange to get the account tied to the correct email address closed. ************************************************ Date: 8/28/2006 3:02:41 PM Dear Melynda XXXX, Thank you for being a valued SunRocket Member. Melynda, Anyway, have you gotten in touch with your credit card company since it is a dispute that is being billed to your card each month? Maybe they have a way of blocking SunRocket's charges until you can get it all cleared up - ?? I'm glad we went with Vonage. We been with them for over a year and a half and have had no problems.
We cancelled our Sprint land line service over a year ago and have been using only our cell phones. We both need them anyway for work and now I don't have to deal with Sprint! I love not missing any calls because my cell phone is my home phone. And I have one less answering machine to check and one less bill to pay each month. I highly recommend the switch to cell phone only.
