SSS Student Earns Prestigious Parks Scholarship

    Daniels Offered Full Ride
    SSS Student Named Parks Scholar

    SMITHFIELD-- Hannah "Nan" Daniels, a senior at Smithfield-Selma Senior High School, has just been informed that she is the recipient of the prestigious Parks Scholarship from North Carolina State University in Raleigh, North Carolina. The Parks is a four-year scholarship for full tuition, room, and board, expenses and enrichment programs. Hannah is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hank Daniels of Smithfield.

    Nan has served as Vice President of SSS Student Government Association; President of the Inter Club Council; President of the Interact Club; President of the YMCA Youth in Government; member of the National Honor Society; and, a member of Mu Alpha Theta Honor Society. She also plays Varsity Tennis, and serves as Captain of the Varsity Swim Team and is a member of the Varsity Cheerleading squad. She served as a Senate Page for Fred Smith; House Page for Representative Leo Daughtry; and, the Treasurer of the Smithfield Juniorettes Service Club. She earned the Girl Scout Gold Award in 2005, and was the recipient of the 2006 Woodmen of the World US History Award.
