StageWorks Theatre visited River Dell Elementary School on Tuesday, November 22, 2005 to perform Imagination Express, a show designed to introduce the elements needed in personal and creative writing. StageWorks Theatre is a unique teaching troupe offering a program designed to nurture the love of story writing through improvisational theatre. The actors introduced the elements needed to write imaginative narratives as outlined in the North Carolina Standard Course of Study. The performance, given for the fourth graders, detailed the use of character, location, action and plot in creative writing through student participation.

StageWorks Theatre was founded in 1995 and tours in North and South Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee, and Virginia. Their goal is to strengthen the love of writing by using an innovative method to educate and motivate the young authors of tomorrow.

This program was made possible by the Artists-in-the-School program, which is supported by the Fred Smith Company, the Johnston County Arts Council, Johnston County Schools, and corporate, foundation, and individual donors. This program is modeled on the Artists in the Schools program of the United Arts Council of Raleigh and Wake County and is supported in part by services provided by United Arts.
