Who do you contact to pick up a dead deer on the side of the road? There is one in front of my neighborhood and it smells awful. It has been there for about a week. Thanks for any info.

Definitely takes somebody with a strong constitution for sure. I could just see the person who comes shoveling what's left and then having a corn beef sandwich for lunch. There's a person for every job, I guess.

Correct, as a wildlife employee, I get this question everyday. If you're in JC, DOT is 919-934-6176.

Funny, true story. My friend had driven his car into a ditch on Amelia church a few years back, so I took my big Dodge to tow him out. I was standing in the back of the truck, tossing the chains over the side onto the ground and then he would pick them up. He got one or 2 chains up off the ground, but it was so dark, he went to grab the 3rd and grabbed a dead racoon that had been there for several day. It literally fell apart in his hand, it had rotted so bad on the inside. Talk about a rough smell. Plus he had to drive his car home with that smell on his hand.

    ROTFL

I called the State Troopers when I hit one on Glen Laurel Road and by the time they arrived someone had hauled it off. Try them.

    Good luck,
    Sherry
