Sucky face algae eaters??

Anyone have any of these? Had any experience with them eating other fish?

My fish population is going down, and I know for a fact that I am missing a kissing fish and probably 10 platys. The only thing in that tank that could get them is the algae eater. Nothing else is big enough, and the cat can't get the tank lid open. The filters are clean ( i checked there too)

    Anyone?

    Jen~

Is that a plecostomus? Pleco's are herbivorous, I'd be pretty shocked if they ate a fish. You need to make sure there something in the tank for them to eat. After they get a little older, they really "lose" their taste for algae and need somthing else to suplement their diet. Try lettuce attached to a rock (rubber band), or an algae tablet.

Again, tho, it would shock me that your pleco would eat a fish. Have you checked the filter? Exactly what types of fish do you have, how big are they, how many, how big's the tank?

Do you have snails? I had a fish die the other evening after I went to bed and in the morning only about 1/2 the fish was left. It was stuck to the intake for the aerator so it might had been pulled apart through that but snails would have been the only thing, other than other fish, that could have reached it. I did have one fish completely disappear and I think it is under the rock in the tank. Or the catfish ate it.

Where do you get your fish? The Petsmart fish don't seem to last all that long.

Okay, the fish have come from everywhere. Some were re-homed to me, some from Petsmart, some from the local pet store. They're all community fish, platys, guppies and stuff like that. I did recently get a catfish, but he's small, and he is supposed to be non-agressive.

    And nope, no snails.....

Right now, from petsmart. Don't really like Wal-mart for fish.

If your catfish is a cory cat, stick with one. They multiply like snails.

The local place is pretty good. Quality-wise the fish are great. Are they all saltwater, Jen? Can't remember.

The little pet shop behind Dairy Queen, sorry I don't remember the name of it.

    Ohhhhh

    And speaking of fish....

Anyone have a small 5-10 gallon tank, plastic or otherwise, thats sitting around taking up space that they'd be willing to donate to a good cause?? My daughters goldfish tank has a leak in it somewhere, and I'm afraid we're gonna have a problem soon! LOL

Oh, sorry  . There's the pet store in the DQ shopping center. They have freshwater fish. I can't spend much time in there, tho, because of the smell.

There's also Aquatica in Peddlers Village. That's the one I was talking about. I think he's all saltwater, but I'm not sure.

I stopped in there a long time ago. I had forgotten that they were even there. I'll have to stop by DQ one day and then walk around the corner.
