I just found out that this plate was approved some time ago by the NC General Assembly, but it has taken a long time to get the logistics in place to actually take orders. The plates will be issued by the NCDMV as soon as the 300-minimum order threshold has been met. After that the DMV will add this plate to their own site for orders, too. (You will actually only have 4 spaces for either a sequential number as the DMV issues them, or 4 spaces for a personalized tag. To the right of the 4 numbers/spaces will probably be 2 letters over each other. That's how all the other Special Plates are designed. It just doesn't show it in their example.) you will see those plates on the back of my cars. where is the extra cost of the plates going? hopefully to some fund for our troops
ws: here's the wording in the statute: (b60) Support Our Troops. – The Division must receive 300 or more applications for a Support Our Troops plate before the plate may be developed. The Division shall transfer quarterly the money in the Collegiate and Cultural Attraction Plate Account derived from the sale of Support Our Troops plates to NC Support Our Troops, Inc., to be used to provide support and assistance to the troops and their families.
