...or does it seem that now days, being a contestant on Survivor is more about living in California and already having Hollywood connections!?!? I was reading through the dossiers for the Cook Island Survivor, and out of 20 contestants: - 13 of 20 are from California - 2 from NY - 1 each from DC, NC, VA, IL and SC - 7 of the 20 have vast hollywood connections: * Adam - MTV * Cristina - E! Entertainment, Discovery Health, MTV * Jessica - Roller girl with Voodoo Dolls and Hustlers * Jonathan - appeared on CSI, The Nanny, Seinfeld, Arrested Development and is an OSCAR NOMINEE * Rebecca - WON AN EMMY for her make up work on The View. She is currently the make up artist for Elisabeth Hasselback of The View. * Sekou - Played jazz with George Benson, Liza Minelli, Luther Vandross, Roger Daltry, and more. Has appeared in feature films. Recorded the bass for "Fast and the Furious", has a new CD coming out in December. *Sundra - appeared in CSI: Miami, Strong Medicine, Sex in the City and several national commercials. Geesh....Does anyone remember when SURVIVOR was about every-day average people that could be your neighbor or your co-worker? I'm not interested in watching a reality show about a bunch of people who already have Hollywood connections. I want to watch a show where the contestants are bartenders, a secretary, your boss from the office...people who have hidden talents and skills that show up as the show progresses. Okay, rant off.
Alot of people are boycotting it this year because of how there splitting the cast up into ethnic groups. I haven't watched it in the last 5 years. Just burnt out on it. The one girl on there from NC is from Fayetteville.
I am not boycoitting it. Iti s just a ratings ploy, but even the contestants are not making the big issue. so far. and within hte the next week or two they will have them all divided up anyhow.
It is all dejavu to me. I used to love Survivor, but it seams to now be same thing different people... I am loosing interest. I agree that the racial thing was just for ratings, I dont think it is any different then splitting them up by ages.
The racial thing doesn't bother me, especially since they've already split it up by gender & age before... by race is just another way to divide the group. BUT, after finding out that there are actors on there this time, I'm done. I haven't watched it for a couple of years so I thought I would tune in this season. Guess I was wrong.
Well that just stinks! I haven't watched the past couple of seasons and thought I would give this season a try. My mom watches it, I like to so I know who and what she is talking about, but dang, ACTORS? That's wrong. How do we know if they are acting or being real? Bleh! :x
I don't see it as "racial". The teams are just seperated by ethnic backgrounds.... Like the previously seperated by sex, age... I think it's kind of cool they put it right out in the open - but I wonder if that is why they put "Hollywood" people on it. Now that I know that, I doubt if I will watch it. I also think the Survivor to Surreal World thing is old, too. I hate that little Johnny bas-My Friend.
I caught part of that show last week and this week, and thought it was funny too. I'll have to try to catch all of it next week.
I have all 3 episodes on my DVR, c'mon over. It's funny as hell. I laugh so hard and it's the kind of comedy that you only "get" if you've "been there". MM looks at me like I'm stupid and say's , "Mama, I don't get it. It's not that funny" If you only knew dear, if you only knew, lol.........
DITTO!! Grey's was a kind of mellow start season prem for me. Darn good tease, though. LOL I was expecting more of a BANG. But I guess they did want to carry on the ambiance of sadness with denni dying and all. Either way... I'm just glad it's back on!!!
I saw the first one but haven't seen the other 2. Well I say the first one... I watched the one with the patio furniture.
I recently read an article that stated most reality show stars are really just out of work actors that utilize Hollywood classified ad's to get work. The shows don't seem as fun anymore knowing that the people on them aren't just regular joe's like you and me but struggling actors.
