Does anyone know where there is a sweet potato field that has been opened for the general public to come and pick them up? This time of year there are usually some farmers that have harvested their crops and allow the general public to come and pick up the left overs free. If so, please give directions.

Ok, I have the owner's approval so anyone who is interested can get the leftover sweet potatoes in the field at the corner of Hwy. 50 and Graham Pond Rd.

If you are at the intersection of 210 and 50 you want to turn on to 50 going towards Benson. As soon as you pass the 50/210 fire department on your right go to the next road on the right and that is Graham Pond Rd.

    Happy Digging!

Michelle, Please thank the owner of the field on my behalf. My wife and I plus her sister went digging this evening after dinner at Stephenson's. Potato's were smaller than we are use to picking up but they looked good. And thank you for taking the time to get permission for us to enter the field.

It's really a waste that so many taters are left in the fields like that every year. The reason is, they can't sell those little bitty taters. I know there is a fellowship group or something like that that goes through the fields in some areas to pick the small taters to feed the homeless & such.
