I currently have a wood burning firebox...We use it quite often...However, thinking about converting to Gas just for the convienience and probably much better efficiency. Does anyone have a reputable place to use...And any idea what the conversion will cost me?

    Thanks in advance!

In my opinion as long as your wood burning unit is ventilated properly and gives you adequate heat you will be better off staying with wood.

Especially "if" you watch out for deals on free or very cheap firewood. My brother has a wood burning and we picked up almost 3 years worth of free wood.

I am seeing more loss than gain here.

A wood-burning "insert" would greatly improve the efficiency of your fireplace.

We had a gas insert when we first moved in; took it out to enjoy the wood fireplace. Turns out I have allergies to the woodburning and cannot tolerate the air. Gas would have been the better option (hindsight is always 20/20). Our fireplace is now a great backdrop for the plasma tv....
