Well, we all have our hangups. Her weakness was make-up; others have a doughnut stuck in their mouth or a bag of cookies in their lap at all times. People have made fun of her for years and maybe some thing she deserved being made fun of, however I am really surprised that some (mostly some of the comments of readers on WRAL) have implied that she got what she deserved. Criminally, she was never convicted of anything like her husband. Even with full knowledge of it, she in my opinion did the right thing. Instead of laying low and resuming a ministry, she basically kept to herself. She still proclaimed Christianity, but not in a evangelical role. I accept it when evangelical ministers and teachers stumbled because we are all prone to wrongdoing. However, I feel that people like Bakker and Swaggart do wrong by again resuming their church leadership roles as if they never had done anything. A minister should lead by example and when he or she sets a bad example, they should remove themselves from leadership. I did not agree with some of Tammy Faye's ideas, especially her condoning of homosexual lifestyle as being acceptable for Christianity. My belief is a homosexual can become a Christian, but they must stop the lifestyle.
Slate has a nice item on how the blogs reacted. (a reference to her appearance on Larry King Live. There's video on Slate.) Another blogger remembers: She was one of a kind. She will be missed.
