Is there anything over the counter that I can use to treat my dog for these? I've already called Robinson Vets and they request that I take a stool sample in tomorrow to have it checked. :ack:
Any you will need to WEAR SHOES & GLOVES if you work in the yard/soil. Anywhere near the animal waste. Way way back when in NC - many children died every year from "worms". Be Careful.
I was flipping channels yesterday afternoon and saw on some talk show that people were intentionally ingesting them as a diet aid!! Like someone says, you can't fix stupid!!!:ack::ack::ack:
Do you know for a fact that its tape worms? Dogs, especially puppies, are prone to just about all worms. Our pup dealt with hookworms more than anything else, but we did see one roundworm...of course, which was a bit alarming since they (roundworms) can cause a host of potentially serious problems. Tape worms are tough to get rid of. Sections of the tape worm will appear as rice grains in the poop, but the head will be resilent to come out and will regrow sections. Anyway, we used vet meds and still had a tough time. I will say, though that my FIL told me to put a couple of drops of bleach in the water and that this would clean him out of worms. I didn't follow this example, but did switch him from spring water to city tap water. Soon afterward, the worms disappeared.
Egads, I'm just going to take a sample in to the vets and have it tested for ALL worms...thanks for all the responses.
