Sergeant Joe Binns of Garner Police told WRAL News that a suspect, who was believed to have sideswiped a police car, fled on foot near the area of Ten-Ten and Old Stage roads. Police have established a perimeter around the Eagle Ridge golf community to track the man, who has been on the loose since about 3:30 p.m. Law enforcement officers helped teachers to dismiss students from nearby Vance Elementary School at about 3:45 p.m. The after-school program at the school was being conducted with limited attendance, and the school is locked down. Authorities have blocked roads in the course of the search and urge commuters to avoid the area.
