I discovered an issue with my plumbing Sunday afternoon when I went to use my front outside faucet. I turned the water on and it began to spray water from behind the vinyl siding. I checked the faucet on the back side of my house and discovered the same issue. sometime during the recent bitter cold, both "frostproof" (yeah, right) faucets had burst just inside the wall in the crawl space. after debating with myself rather to call a plumber or attempt to repair it myself, I remembered seeing a posting from monaco177 on this forum offering home repairs, including plumbing. I sent Tom a PM yesterday afternoon and he called me very shortly afterward. I explained to Tom what I needed and he was at my house this morning ready to work. After assessing what needed to be done, Tom went for the parts and had me all fixed up by noon for a very fair price. I'm usually a do-it-yourselfer, but plumbing is not a strong point. Tom was recently laid off and doing what he has to do to pay the bills. I hope that anyone needing home repairs give a fellow "4042er" a chance before calling anyone else. :hurray:
Thats why we put those faucet covers on all of our outside faucets. But, glad you two could help each other out
YAY Monaco!!!! He'll be fixing an appliance for me once the part gets here!!! :hurray::hurray::hurray::hurray:
yeah, Monaco is the bomb, he was great with us and we have future projects planned - did not know he was laid off, haven't been on the board in a week or so - so sorry Monaco, hopes and prayers will be with you and Mrs (she is a real sweetheart):grouphug:
Thank You Kaci and remember me if there is anything you may need help with, dosen't matter what the project. You can run it by me and Ill either be able to handle it or not but I will let you know. I am hoping to land a job but it is extremely tough out here to be out of work.
well actually, the same problem with my front outside water spicket (sp?) give me a call when you get the chance.
I want to thank you as well. He helped me get out an old faucet and put in a new one. Looks great and no more leaks YEA. He is checking on getting me a pump for my front loading clothes washer. Again I want to say THANKS!!!!!
ok then, i was just a bit let down when the insurance company declared that none of the plumbing work was covered when i had my leak in the wall but i guess that is the price ya pay when you don't go with pros:cry: No offense, i appreciate that he tried.
I cannot understand why they wouldn't cover that repair. I gave you a reciept and the company I worked for was licensed and insured. I guess that they just needed to find a way out of paying a claim which I am not surprised as most insurance companies try to do anyway.
no it worked out okay, they more than compensated for the wall damage and carpeting, i was very pleased. i think their reasoning was that they do not pay for the actual thing that caused the damage, just the damage itself so all is good.
Yes, that's what happened w/ my water leak. It ws the icemaker line on my fridge where the hose hooks up to the fridge (valve???). They didn't pay to fix that, just the damage it caused.
Talk about not being compensated. Monaco177 had installed my new dishwasher last year while he was still at HHGregg. The initial washer had a leak in the hose direct from the factory. HHGregg sent him out with a replacement. He found the cause of the leak. I was called by HHGregg to have someone come out to assess the damage to my carpeting, but after a year they still never showed. When he came out to replace my faucet he even remembered and mentioned it. I know if He could of done something to remedy it he would of. Thats the type of person he is. But corporate America feels no need to correct their problems/defects/relations, but to ask for a bail out and give their exec's bonuses while at the expense of people like Monaco177.
wow, why you quoted me on this one i have no idea. My homeowners company totally took care of me and totally compensated me more than i expected. No they did not reimburse me for the plumber bill but i kinda sorta doubted they would when the majority of the bill was replacing and working on things that did not cause the damage we had. Take a look at the big picture instead of jumping to conclusions.
Yeah, I kind of feel bad for The Rock because I had no idea that the dishwasher he purchased and I installed for him ended up being defective. I did test run the machine when I installed it and there were no leaks, however after he used it a couple times it was leaking at the back and thus the carpeting was damaged. When I returned to swap out the dishwasher, I explained to him that HH Gregg would cover the damages to his home. He did contact HH Gregg (over a year ago) and they have not had the decency to return his calls. I would suggest that you send them a nasty e-mail of this situation. Who knows if that will get you anywhere, HH Gregg is not a very receptive company when it comes to their customers. I know this because I have researched their customer service complaints online and have found this to be true. Good luck with this issue and please do not hold this incident against me. I was only the guy who installed the machine, I did not build it.
