Okay, here's my timesaving tip. Let's hear from the rest of you 4042er's. Cook your sweet potatoes in your crock pot. Simply place sweet (or baking) potatoes in the crock pot and let them cook on low overnight or all day.
Don't need to add anything. I do baking potatoes all the time. Got my sweet taters in there as we speak/write while I'm at work so I can go home tonight and make sweet potato casserole. :-D
Well most people probably do this.... but make the stuffing/dressing the night before unless you do the stove top kind!! The broth, sage and other yummy ingredients have time to soak in the cornbread dressing all night and then just cook it the next day! When I get off today at one... I am mixing my stuffing! LOL
Cook today so you have less to do tomorrow? That's what mom's doing. Pretty much everything today and the turkey tomrrow. I'm so excited!!!!! HAM & TURKEY?!!!!!! <ME SCREAMING>
I tell you something that makes a difference on a deep fried turkey....Go to SAM's Club. Get some of the dry rub for Turkey and Poultry. McGuire makes it. Let it sit on the bird atleast three hours before dropping it in the oil. Man the skin comes out nice and golden...The flavor is just outstanding. P.S. Don't forget to make time to maybe drop off a few things for the people in Uniform on these holidays. They are working while we are home. It makes a difference in their day.
