With being new to the area and no family in town our family of four is needing idea's for the holiday weekend. Is there any good restaraunts open for Thanksgiving?? Any idea's of fun things to do with a 12 year old and 17 year old?
Meadow Lights opened this weekend. No cost to see the lights. Take $ for candy in the store, carousel and train. http://www.meadowlights.net/
Thanks for those idea's and hints... I really appreciate the feed back.. Its going to be tough to keep two boys busy this weekend..
I think we're gonna check out the Aquarium at Fort Fisher. There is also a Civil War museum/Battlefield. You can also drive on the beach down there, if your vehicle is so equipped. http://www.ah.dcr.state.nc.us/sections/hs/fisher/fisher.htm http://www.ncaquariums.com/ff/ffindex.htm http://ils.unc.edu/parkproject/visit/fofi/home.html
We're going to Riverbanks Zoo. Hubby's from SC and he always said They dress the place up nice and I've always wanted to go so.... yeah FAMILY FIELD TRIP! http://www.riverbanks.org/mediacenter/releases2007/1104.shtml
We took the oldest there when he was a wee 9mth old and it wasn't as bad a walk as the NC Zoo. And you didn't have to LOOK for the animals with a lot less hills. With the NC Zoo we were telling the little guy... hey, you see that little gray dot moving half mile away... well son that' is what you call an elephant. Then you walk 4 more miles to see the house the Gorillas live in. Here son, is a picture of a Gorilla. Now were is that damn trollie...daddy needs a smoke break before I kill him for taking us on this stupid jungle journey. The bird cages and the monkey house were the neatest, if it wasn't 4 million degrees and humid as hell. Yeah we went in July and regretted it.
Oh Lord! I remember the heat, I think it was August and about 104 degrees when we went. We nearly had heat strokes! Next time we won't go in the summer, that is for sure!
Pumpkin pie is easy esp if you buy the crust. Grab a can of Libby's and follow the recipe on the label. It really could not be simpler or more delicious!
Nooooo, My sweet 5 year old daughter was learning "P" words recently and wants to help make a pumpkin pie!! LOL I have to do it for her!!
