My little clan have quit cooking on THANKSGIVING and go out for the meal. We use to go to The Plantation Inn on Capital Blvd. until they tore it down for more Retail, (which I'm sure we needed more of that). The Plantation Inn was GREAT! Killer buffet, white table cloths, professional, excellent Holiday Food. But now my Mom, the daughter and I are nomads on Thanksgiving, wondering the few restaurant choices on this day, trying to replace the Turkey Crown Jewel we lost. Some of our recent attempts: *The top of the round hotel on Hillsborough Street, it was undistinguishable enough for me to not now remember the name of the hotel or the restaurant. *IRREGARDLESS Restaurant on W. Morgan Str: This was, excuse the expression, a Real Turkey. Restaurants should not try to get too fancy with the basic holiday food. *The CAPITAL ROOM: was once in Belks in Crabtree but moved out to a hotel on Blue Ridge Road. It was a buffet and was ok, but for Thanksgiving I want more than just OK. *CRACKER BARREL, 4042: This was like ordering the turkey off the menu on any day of the year. It was good but not Special. *McCALLS on Hwy 70: Went here last year and it was satisfactory and we are going back if we can't find anything else to try. ...BUT, we are still looking for that elusive Turkey Day THANKSGIVING Prime eating restaurant location and I would appreciate any and all ideas. Thanks to you in advance and a special thanks to all the turkeys that make this day possible. ...fnLEE
Angus Barn..its really not too pricey for what you get.. http://www.angusbarn.com/pdf/Thanksgiving06.pdf
Each year we go to K&W or K&S cafeteria. You get turkey, dressing, 2 veg's, tea, roll, & desert for about $6.50.
Did that one year ... happens to be the DHs grandmothers favorite restaurant (if you call it that), and they let her choose where to eat that year. An over-crowded, loud, cafeteria like experience not to be experienced by me ever again on any holiday, even if I have to offer to cook dinner myself!

I hope your Thanksgiving dinner at Chops is better than some of our posters experience at Chops on another thread - Restaurants Maybe some of the posters that had bad experiences have been back and had better service and food. Good luck! http://4042.appcomm.net/forums/viewtopic.php?t=11043
Carver's Creek does have good food but we have not been back since they had Sanitation Grade Problems. 1/31/06 - 75.5 2/10/06 - 88 8/8/06 - 92 http://wake.digitalhealthdepartment.com/facilities.cfm?facilityID=497132
How about a Stouffer's Hungry Man microwaveable turkey dinner? YUMMMMMY! Easy to prepare too.... Actually, I love to cook a turkey and all the fixins. My mom and dad came up from Florida and seeing that my mom really can't stand because of knee surgery so I'll do all the cooking. My mom and I always debate on who's stuffing is better. Sssshhhhhhh! Don't tell her but her's is better.
Well, we went to CHOPS... and it was great. Most tender turkey I have ever had. Nice long buffet where they had servers filling your plate which was nice. Big booth, nice waitress, and I stuffed my gut and will not go near a scale for at least a week.
We went to Chops - I had a whooping two hours off on Thanksgiving Day and met the family there. I have absolutely no complaints about the food or the service...it's about visit #12 there and honestly, we have NEVER gotten stuck with a bad meal or bad service. My only complaint and it goes for anywhere you go - It sucks to be seated in a booth with a party of 6 for a buffet when you are on the inside! EVERYONE on your side of the table has to get up when you want something. Other than that, no witching and moaning.
