In order to add another 4-5,000 books, the children's library at 40/42 needs 4-6 bookcases built and 1-2 shelves added on top of existing bookcases. Visit the library and see what is needed.

In 20 months the children's library added more than 13,000 books to the shelves - 4 books for each child in the area's 4 elementary schools (West View, Polenta, Cleveland, McGee's) and almost as many as the entire collection at Four Oaks library. Now the trick is getting them in order and grouping the sets (Hardy Boys, Black Beauty, Twilight, etc.).

Volunteers are welcome Monday and Thursday evenings 6-9 and Saturdays 9-6. Hundreds of patrons are borrowing and returning books weekly and they all need put back neatly on their shelves.

The Sunny Saturday book fundraisers 10-4 are offering more than 7,000 records (a donated private collection started in 1963) and books (many are children's).

The children's library is part of the 72,000 book and movie collection built by volunteers and donations, while saving the counties $2.5 million in tax dollars, at Cleveland Library, 5533 NC HWY 42 W, Garner, Units D-96-100. Library book sales/fundraisers are held outside D-92. Cash, checks, VISA, MasterCard, debit and credit accepted. 919-661-6565.
