We saw him on tv... he definitely had signs of being somewhere on the Autism spectrum. His parents were just so proud it was wonderful to see.
that tape did look edited, to only get the worst parts. He will end up at MIT, then a job as an engineer (RTP).
Wow you folks are hard, looks like he might have a form of Asperger's syndrome and could one day solve our energy crisis. I was pretty impressed.
Such a sterotypical remark. Did you see the interview and piece on him they showed during the spelling bee. The child is a genius. He is excited because he will be going to a calculus camp this summer. His brain is driven to think about math and music. Any kid his age (schooled at home or public school) with his kind of interests is most likely socially lacking. Consider, too, his age. Many teens the same age would probably limit their responses to "yep" / "nope".
Please try to remember that HE'S JUST A KID. I know that if I was interviewed on TV, I would get very nervous and probably sound awful. Would you? Most people aren't used to being interviewed on TV. And about being a geek-well some homeschool kids are geeks. So are some public-school kids. And so are a lot of private school kids. A lot of public, private and yes, homeschool kids are very social and good at holding a coversation. Most of the homeschool kids I know have great social skills. You never know-that geeky kids might land up inventing something that will change your life. Remember, Microsoft was founded by a geek!
He'll be the next Bill Gates and the women will flock to him. Just watch. I've been teaching my daughter for years not to burn bridges with nerdy boys. They will be the ones to make the money and take over the world. :-D
