I'm looking for thoughts on the essay aspect. And if this came from the front page of foxnews.com then we all can wager a guess where that bias is going to be, but again, I'm not trying to talk politics. Just what is acceptable at a college. This just seems crazy to me. I mean it's not like these kids had a gun to their head to write an essay threatening Palin's life. And the idea that god forbid a professor wants to talk politics! Even if he is an English teacher. At some point all of the subjects come together in some way. I mean that's a part of what college is about - engaging in conversation about current events. I'm just really surprised that someone made a stink about this and that it landed in the media (well not about the media part). The assignment may have been too politically bias, but why didn't a student or students just stand up to the professor and insist there be some sort of Obama essay :allears:
Not sure what the professor was trying to teach, but if it was to get folks to argue intelligently a point even if they disagree with it, it should have been followed up with the same assignment for Biden.
I guess without more information it's hard to know exactly what he was trying to teach, but it seems to me like it wasn't going to hurt anyone and sounded like a pretty thought provoking assignment. I do agree that the opposition would have been quelled if he had just had a Biden assignment as well. Still such making a mountain out of a mole hill (I know, it goes on everyday but this just stuck out as especially crazy)!
