Anybody know the answer? Do delivery guys for beer/wine/soda distributors have "busy seasons"? I'm sure a store might order more of some items (wine/beer around holidays), but they would be delivered in the same trip, right? Like maybe an extra pallet. Just wondering if somebody is trying to pull one over on me. Just last week, they tell me their new job has OT available, and now it is the busy season and they won't get out of there until 6 or 7PM? When they get there at 5:15AM?
One would believe they do, especially around the holidays. Stores are stocking up for the holiday rush.
I used to work for a beer & wine distributor and the delivery people did have more to stock during the holidays. There are usually more displays to set-up, etc. I would imaging this person you are speaking of should have a larger pay check next week/month.
we used to know someone who came into McK's frequently, and he worked for a wine distributor, and during the pre-holidays/holidays, I can remember him complaining about working 60+ hour weeks and he had a pretty good sized area to cover. He visited the busier stores more frequently and did more display set-ups, etc.
I have family that work in retail and beer/wine section does get a bit busier this time of year. As said on a previous post, there are holiday displays to set up and things of that nature. So I could see where they would be telling the truth :?
I worked at Coors for 10 years and anytime there is a holiday, especially Christmas, New Years, Halloween and July 4th, it's always busy. But we always made sure we had more drivers for extra orders. That's how all the beverage companies used to do it.
