LOS ANGELES — Tens of thousands of jobs created by the economic stimulus law could end up filled by illegal immigrants, particularly in big states such as California where undocumented workers are heavily represented in construction, experts on both sides of the issue say. Studies by two conservative think tanks estimate immigrants in the United States illegally could take 300,000 construction jobs, or 15% of the 2 million jobs that new taxpayer-financed projects are predicted to create. They fault Congress for failing to require that employers certify legal immigration status of workers before hiring by using a Department of Homeland Security program called E-Verify. The program allows employers to check the validity of Social Security numbers provided by new hires. It is available to employers on a voluntary basis. _________________________________________________________________ So much for jobs for Americans. What is this country coming to? ???? Maybe I have missed something here but I thought they were not to hire illegal aliens to begin with...Of course, I must keep in mind, that never made any difference... With all the money that is being handed out, another chunk should be added to round up the illegals and run them back to where they came from.
lets just run them out of the country and be done with it. BUT.... One of them that a friend knows was caught with a DWI and was deported, guess what???? he was back in three weeks with the same name, job, and social security number. and his boss knows he is illegal..... fine the heck out of those who hire them.....watch how fast they stop being employed.

I know at our company we did a huge house cleaning a while back due to the new laws, and the fact that we were being supplied illegals through a particular employment company. Craig

Whoever gets the stimulus money will help the economy, if it's spent here. not all of the income the illegals make is sent back home. I agree that the fines (huge, huge,huge) should go to those that hire the illegals, as that would cut down on the supply of jobs available to them. That said, fewer people than you might think would scoff at a job paying 8 bucks per hour for anything, much less hard work.
I remember last year the crap stirrers started posting about "Illegal immigrants" getting stimulus checks, and I asked those individuals to post even one case. You know a funny thing happened. No one posted !
