Absolutely. Today is a day that should be appreciated by all Americans and celebrated, but should also remain a solemn occasion that we reflect on what it means to be a true American hero; a beacon of courage for freedom's sake, even complete self-sacrifice that future generations may taste the sweetness of liberty.
this says it all for me. copied a FB friend's entry: To those who never had the opportunity to grow old; Never had the chance to see the face of their child; Never experienced the pleasure of getting in a warm bed on a cold night with the warm body of the person they love; who experienced fear, but continued anyway; and who gave the ULTIMATE love by laying down their lives for others whom they would never meet--- I salute you today and always. --JHP DB's wife
