    I wish the doggies luck. . .me, I'm Chow-phobic.

I will work with ANY breed - cept Chows - they can smell the fear on me a mile away. I know lots of trainers and groomers who feel similar "Chows are sneaky" That's a sentence I've heard a number of times.

If ya love the breed, cool - they aren't my cup of tea.

Makes me wonder if that might be the reason they're in the shelter.

    chows

They are not kid friendly either, but I do hope they find a wonderful home..I'm not a chow person either. I have always loved their look, but not the personality. They look so sad in there.

Ya'll don't get me started first thing Sunday am about Chows!
Shelby (my avatar) is the BEST dog I've ever had! She has NEVER been aggressive towards anyone. Now her JOB is to protect and that's exactly what she's done.

It all comes down to how you raise them. From the time I got Shelby, we were out everywhere together!! Her very first weekend was at my mom and dads place at the beach and out on the boat. Now that she's older, she could really care less about people and doing anything, except ride in the car!

OK, I'm done I could go on forever like Melynda does but I'll just say... it all comes down to how they are raised.

HG, I know what you're saying, but I wonder if the two at the shelter weren't raised around people and are aggressive. Hope not, they're beautiful dogs and it would be nice if they could be adopted into loving homes.

The reason we have 2 Chow mixes is that once we got the first, Grizzy, we fell in love. She's the sweetest dog, and extremely smart. (of course, right?) We adopted her when she was 8 weeks old. She's 8 years now. The second one is Chow and possibly Newfoundland. My husband was determined to get another Chow mix because Griz is such a great dog, and they are really not wanted. We have even had problems getting someone to groom them because they are part Chow. Rachel at Critter Country knows them and takes care of them both. The second dog, Coco, is so mild that she pees if someone talks too loud. Both girls respect our cats and are terrified of storms.

The point is that we subscribe to the opinion that it's mostly about how they are raised, and I hope that these little guys get a great home. If we weren't already 3 pets over the limit of our HOA I'd go look myself (SHHHH).

The Chow my ex had was VERY kid friendly. My son and her were very close. She would let him lay on her, sit on her, etc. She was a great family dog.

My step-father used to raise chows, long before he ever became my step-father. But as a child (5-6 years old) I lived next door to him and would go down to the pin and play with them, and they were never agressive at all towards me, actually loved it when I'd go down and play with them.

    BTW...those two are cuties.
