This is a bit long, but weird and I need opinions other than TWC's to straighten it out. I have basic cable and two HD TVs. Ever since I plugged these things in I got a certain amount of HD channels (the free ones). The channel lineup has been like this: CBS - WRAL TV5 Channel 5, HD Channels 5.1, 5.2, 5.3, etc. ABC - WTVD TV11 Channel 11, HD Channels 11.1, 11.2, 11.3, etc. The same for NBC, Fox, and some of the others. I thought it was pretty convenient, right? Everything corresponded perfectly to the channels actual number. Now, I have one other analog TV and it also has basic cable and a couple of those channels have always been a bit funny (CBS = 3, ABC = 13, etc.). On Friday morning my HD channels moved to 92.1, 102.1 and 77.1 in the upper reaches of the lineup with no rhyme or reason. An online chat with TWC told me to unplug the coax for 60 seconds. This worked and reset 11.1, 11.2 and 17.1 and 17.2, but not CBS at the 5.1, 5.2 or any others. Also NBC is now 7 and not 17, yet the NBC HD channels are still 17.1 What gives? Any ideas?
I have TWC basic and standard. Here's the channel lineup for our area: http://www.timewarnercable.com/CustomerService/Clu/Clu.ashx?CLUID=103&Image1=&Zip=27520 In addition, digital channels come in on their actual number if you have a digital TV. So, you still get Channel 5 on 3, and Channel 17 on 7, and Channel 11 on 13; but Channel 5 digital comes in on 5.1, 5.2, etc. By the way, Channel 4.5 has great NC programs, check it out.
