a white german shepard and a smaller maybe six months old boxer. They came together. we fed them and they are safe. Just want to reunite them with their home!! thanks
i'm sorry - i'm trying to upload the pictures i took of them. the boxer is probably older than I originally thought. We're off Cleveland Road near Cornwallis.
 for a minute, we were thinking we would take on critters #9 and #10. I would, you know, in a heartbeat...:grouphug:
great news, y'all were great for taking them in till you found the owners, they were both beautiful dogs:hurray::hurray::hurray:
Unreal, the owner called our caring finders and said the white dog is loose again, what part of care for your dogs does he not get?
This happened with our shih tzu - we found her, found the owner through Craigslist. She came to our home, fussed over the dog, knew stuff about her that made us comfortable enough to believe she was in fact the owner. We had taken the pet to the vet, got rabies shot and physcial before we found the owner, so she had a rabies tag on the collar we put on her. Pet and owner were reunited, happy ending. So we thought. We received a call from Dr. Debbie's staff the next day, telling us they got a call from a guy who found this little dog and called the number on the tag. Well, guess what...she is ours now - renamed Dodi; she is safe, happy and healthy, and has lots of brothers and sisters. Why do people allow their dogs to roam? I can understand getting loose a time or two; perhaps a breach in a fence. One of our dogs started finding ways to escape; Sophie grew a lot taller than we thought she would (no, she isn't a Corgi mix haha) and could jump it. We ALWAYS retrieved her as soon as it happened, as we are outside with the pets in the yard (or looking out the window when they playing within our sight). Each time she got out, hubby found out how, and "fixed" it. Rebuilding, reinforcing, making it taller- whatever it took to keep them all safe. Now we believe we got it right, as none has figured out a way to venture out for quite awhile now. My point is, if you want to own a pet, please be responsible and do what you need to do, to contain your pet to keep them safe. I treasure each and every one of mine. It makes me sad that tabs are not being properly kept on these dogs. JMHO
I forgot to mention that this little dog had been missing for two months, according to her previous owner (during the winter months). When we took her to the vet, they thought she was a middle aged dog with cataracts, suffering from a stroke. She was determined to be 2 years old, suffering from sever malnutrition and had broken teeth and probable neurological damage due to severe head trauma. The owner said it probably happened during her journey of being lost. I later told the vet this; she just shook her head. I look at Dodi now and understand why she "escaped". It took awhile, but she no longer jumps out of her skin when we touch her, and allows us to hold her. Yes, I know I am rambling on, but it feels good to vent. I so love my rescues!
wish more folks were like you..... Good for you- I have rescues also. They are such grateful dogs especially when they have come from nothing but abuse. I just wish more people would consider rescues instead of puppies mills.
