I wish I could sell common sense. Text Messaging Teen Blamed In Fatal Wreck POSTED: 1:09 pm PDT August 14, 2007 UPDATED: 6:40 pm PDT August 14, 2007 PEORIA, Ariz. -- Peoria police said they believe a fatal accident was caused by a teenager who was text messaging on her cell phone and let her car drift into oncoming traffic. Ashley Miller, 18, was driving a white Ford pickup that crossed the center line of Lake Pleasant Parkway on Monday afternoon, colliding head-on with a silver Dodge PT Cruiser. Miller was ejected from her pickup and flown to a Valley hospital in critical condition. She later died. Investigators believe the Glendale teen was text messaging on her cell phone when the wreck occurred. The roadway in the area of the collision is one lane in each direction with a small crest before dropping down, officers said. Police said the wreck was a tragic reminder that drivers should devote their full attention to the road and never send text messages while driving.
I know someone that texts as they drive. And she has a small daughter. Lawd! Think I will pass that on to her!
There was another case like this in NY I think. 4 girls were killed b/c the teenage driver was texting. Very sad!
And yet another lecturing opportunity for all us parents out there. I just did. Did you? I got the typical "I knooooooow". In other words...."enough mom". Sorry son, I'm your mom forever. My mom still lectures me and I'm 39 years old.
My personal opinion is that texting, talking on the cell should all be banned unless handless units are used especially for unexperienced drivers.
Girl you better stop! It's easier to talk on the phone than it is to sit there and look up all the letters.
