Just recently, I have started getting a new message while I am using the internet on my home PC...I have a system that notifies me if changes are trying to be made such as with the homepage. First , the homepage that has been set to default for quite a while on a site I use the most, went to wellsfargo homepage. I didn't change it. Now it's bank of america...again didn't change it. Now I get a message that tells me BOA is trying to be my homepage for internet explorer, which I don't even use. Help anyone?

Download malwarebytes and run a full scan. Let it delete anything it finds. Then update your virus definitions, and run a full scan with your av software. Lastly it wouldn't hurt to run a free online av scan? I like the one below:
    http://www.eset.com/us/online-scanner/

Once that is all done, make sure that you run all of the windows updates. Lastly you can run the tool at the following:
    http://secunia.com/vulnerability_scanning/online/
This will check your pc for vulnerable out of date software - like java and flash.

The only things that try to change a homepage are hitting questionable sites. Stop surfing porn and invest in a good AV product. Free is not good. Pay to be safe.

    Anything else is rubbish.

PG, it sounds like you may have a phishing virus since it's bank sites it's wanting to take you to. I'm betting they aren't real. Definitely need to run virus scans, etc.

And you can get them from emails despite the comment made above. I don't open anything I don't absolutely have to anymore, esp from my less computer savvy relatives, LOL

Not a computer expert and don't claim to be however.

If it comes in email your AV sucks. Get with the program and know what you are talking about. This isn't real estate. If you are getting emails like this then YOU are going to fishy sites and that's how they get your information through third party cookies. If your machine is labeled or named with personal information these cookies will stay on your machine and fish that info and then email itself to the originator. THus is how SPAM comes to your home, cell phone etc.

    Good light reading...

Big changes are coming and simple thinking will get you screwed. Buy good AV and MW Protection. Cheap butts.

Thanks for your recommendations. I think it is now taken care of with a combo approach with a few things hubby did as well as a few things in this thread. Thanks, again!
