Johnston Co. Animal Shelter in Smithfeild is hosting its Open House. Lots of activities for humans & canines.. canines can be bathed for 7.00 canines bathed with nail trim for 10.00 Rabies clinic for One Year rabies is 5.00 and I believe microchipping is also available (not sure of fee). Come out & give some animal support. Also, if you don't have a dog yourself, you can visit the adoption center or Pet Smart White Oak Adopt-a-thon with JCAPL if you are looking for a pet. OR if timing is not right to bring a pet into the family then Sponsor a homeless shelter dog for a good probably much needed bath.
We just returned from the Johnston Co Animal shelter fair; I took my corgi for a $5 rabies shot, since her 1 yr shot expires in November. FYI: these are one year only shots, and apparently it did not matter if I had papers to prove that my pet had one and was due for her 3 -year. Kind of disappointing, and I wish I would have just waited until next month to go to the clinic at Lake Benson, where they are 3 year shots if one has proof of current rabies shot. That one is October 3rd, 10 am - 1 pm I believe is the time. I know those are 3 yr ones because we took 2 of our pets there last year, and they are not due for another 2 yrs. When I asked, something about a vet not being on the premises and they only had one-year tags. I wonder if they are the same shots, just tags that say 1 yr vs 3 yr. Yeah I know, why am I complaining, only $5. I figured I was already there, so we just got the shot and she'll be due next year like my pup who will be due then as well. Or we'll just assume this shot is good for 3 yrs anyway. You live and learn. I just wanted to pass it on.:chillpill:
I thought they made all clinics only 1 year rabies now. They're all supposed to have the same rules since it is governed by state law. And I'm concerned about their answer of "a vet not being on the premise" as Rabies vaccines can only be guaranteed if a vet administers them (another part of the rabies law).
two years ago we took ours over to the one off of Poole Rd. and they were giving the 3yr. shot as long as you had proof of what the previous shot given, may have had something to do with there being three mobile vet. units there such as SNAP and not just a vet. with his/her techs.
