Pick a city, then go to Hotwire.com. My DH and I are taking an anniversary trip to South Myrtle Beach, got a 3 1/2 star resort for $40 a night!

If you like history, Williamsburg, VA really isn't that expensive.

Boone, Maggie Valley, Myrtle Beach, Williamsburg, Busch Gardens... Really depends on what you want from the vacation...peace and tranquility or entertainment and plenty to do? Myrtle Beach is always a good choice if you don't go that often or have never been, because there's something for everybody down there...at least spring, summer and fall. Obviously, you'd have to be a Snowbird to appreciate Myrtle Beach in the winter if spending time on the beach or in the water...brrrrr! Otherwise, there's an abundance of restaurants, shopping, shows, museums, aquariums, amusement parks...just name it.

The mountains would be great for a quiet getaway, but at elevation, I'm not sure how the weather may be. Williamsburg may be a good place for a historical tour and Busch Gardens for the adult who still wants to have a glimpse of their childhood thrillseeking.

I say head for the mountains, escape all the stresses of "city" living, and just relax! But that might be because I have a vacation rental out there...!;)

Savannah is beautiful anytime and my p's swear that Charleston is the most romantic spot... I like Boone, Lake Junaluska/Maggie Valley, or any other mountain spot, too.

Horsebackriding in Uharie and lodging in a cottage in Maggie Valley is great.

Here's a little suggestion. Hotwire and other 3rd party hotel reservation sites often overbook a hotel or will not guarantee you the room you want. Many times you can get the price from these sites and than call the hotel directly and they will match the price. My husband works for a hotel.

That's good to know. We've used Hotwire literally hundreds of times and have only had a bad experience once. Thanks for the tip!

for all the great ideas... we haven't made a decision yet, so if you think of other locations, please let us know.

I've got these 3 day 2 night vacation vouchers, (which by the way, aren't these time share or 90 minute tour deals,) I give away when I clean someones carpet that let's you go to a couple of diffrent place like Myrtle Beach, that if you pay a $20.00 charge and give them a 60 day notice, the only thing that you have to pay is the room tax which is about $12.00 a night. Even if you didn't want to do that plan, you can still do their plan B which still has huge discounts but with that one, you don't have to pay a $20.00 fee or you don't have to give a 60 day notice. If they have rooms available, you can go immiedetly. Me and my family went about 5 times this past year, and saved a ton of money. Just PM me back if your interested.
