One of our cars died last week. Needs too much $$$ invested to make it run again and it isn't worth it to us, but will be for somebody. I have to get it home, just 1.3 miles from the mechanic's place, so I can take pics and get it up on Craigslist. We have a pickup with a hitch. Is that U-Haul tow dolly thing the only way we can do this? I hate to put even another $45 into renting that thing for a lousy 1 mile tow. Any ideas? The charge for the tow truck is $60.

Do you have roadside assistance on your auto insurance or cell phone account?

Depending on the type of car, I was going to say just use a tow rope. I would have gladly come out there with my big truck and tow rope to pull you a mile. Guess I was just a little too late.
