i know we have probably discussed this before but i am searching for a local vet for our little Gracie for her last round of shots, spaying, etc. i have been talking to a lot of people and keep getting conflicting reports on the local vets so i thought i would ask you guy's opinion. i want someone caring and good but cannot spend an arm and a leg, remember i do still have a human child in college:lol:
Not only are the folks at Stage Road Animal Hospital wonderful - their prices are far less than what I've paid to others in the past (7580 Old Stage Road, Angier, NC -- 639-3337).
Debbie Basden @ 40/42 ~~ 662-7387 She is who I took Shelby to and found out about her (Shelby's ) cancer. :-( She is super nice and very caring!
I've been looking all morning trying to find a place to get our dog spayed. There is a pet mobile that will spay your pet for 1/2 the cost of a vet. You can only make an appointment over the phone, but their mailbox is full and can't leave a message. (arrrrrr) . I called Banfield which is our usual vet. They want $352.00 + $35.00 pre-op fee. That's B.S.!! How come Bob Barker says Spay and Neuter your pets when it cost way too much. Come on Bob! Guess I'll have to keep calling. They come to JC 2-2-07. Average of $130.00 with the pet mobile spaying!
SPay/Neuter Month is February, I think. Lots of local vets give a 20% discount...you may want to ask. As far as Vets, we use the most expensive one around (gonna get flamed), BUT they take GREAT care of my babies and I trust them...Clayton Animal Hospital. I just don't think I could ever change!
Thanks! I sure will ask. Like to save as much as possible. Always could use the extra saved for some dog food!
 I think I'm gonna faint. My brother just had a cat spayed at Stage Rd. and for EVERYTHING (all vaccines, microchip, spay surgery, pain meds, overnight stay, etc.) it was just a little over $200. Why in the world does Banfield feel the need to charge so much for the surgery alone?????
OMG:shock: No wonder there are so many unwanted animals running around - over $300 for spaying:shock:
Banfield Charges so much because you get to watch them through a glass window, so they can feel all high and mighty. (sorry, don't like banfield) I took Hannah there when she was dying ans they would not help her without 400 dollars up front first. We go to Dr. Basden she was wonderful with Hannah and the babies, and we are taking Harley and Cheyenne there very soon for all their routine stuff. They are always so nice up there, and Dr. Basden always asks us our opinion to go with hers instead of simply saying here is how it is. Go to friends of animals website and you can get a voucher to have your pet spayed or neutered, the voucher is I think 50 or so bucks. But much less than paying for the whole thing. Website is www.foa.org
Thanks framemama. Is Dr. Basden at Cleveland Animal up beside Food Lion on 42? R2K, not really familiar with Angier, from where my office is, how far is it? Looks like i have two great recommendations to check out:-D
Easy as pie to get to. Take 210 toward Angier. Turn left on Old Stage Road (way before Angier) and it is the 1st brick building on the left.
If you can afford the time for a trip to the Capital Blvd/Triangle Town Center area, you should check into Safe Haven for Cats. http://www.safehavenforcats.org/SpayNeuterClinic.cfm They have a low-cost spay/neuter program. I paid right at $100 for a health exam, surgical spay procedure, FELV/FIV test, rabies & distemper shots, a dose of Revolution Flea & Tick, nail-clipping, ear cleaning and a pain-shot for any immediate post-op discomfort. Gracie was in great condition the next day, up and back to her normal self. I was very pleased with the services they performed and have recommended them to many people. You have to fill out their forms on the website, and they'll call and let you know the next available opening (it may take a few days to hear from them), still worth every bit of the $100 IMHO.
Aw, you have a Gracie too, that's cool. Wish they had some kind of program like the one above for dogs.
You can buy a voucher from the spca on line. http://www.spcawake.org/spay.html Cats M-$46 F-$56 Dogs M-$57 F-$76 That is just the spay/neuter, you have to pay extra if you want shots, or pre surgery blood work or pain meds..... Pop-nc is also reasonable. http://www.pop-nc.com/services.htm Services:Prices: Canine spay / neuter$95 Canine spay / neuter >60#$110In heat/pregnant/cryptorchid$15 additional DA2PP vaccineincluded w/ surgery ($5 addtnl for exam only) Bordetella vaccine$10 Heartworm test$20 HeartguardAll sizes available for purchase w/ negative test
actually..when she first adopted us she was very "ungraceful" for a cat... which is how she got the name Gracie..
Our's didn't have a name for the first couple days till by DH said, By the Grace of God we might survive her or her survive us - from then on she was Gracie:lol:
Another WE LOVE THEM vote for Stage Road Animal Hospital, 3 vets work there now, less wait times & ---WAY--- better prices.
