I know there are many ortho treads here but I couldn't find anything about Vinson Orthodontics in Clayton. Does anyone have any experience with them?

My daughter goes to their office on Hwy 42. They are very nice and the office is nice. We were a little upset with their billing. Turns out they charge an initial records fee of 250.00 that was never mentioned to us.

I use Vinson Orthodontics for my invisalign. I'm about 3/4 of the way through and I Love Love Love them. Dr. Vinson was highly recommended by my dentist and he's in North Raleigh! But it's not just Dr. Vinson. His whole staff is superb. Never had a single glitch with them, no billing issues, etc. And Karen(the finance gal) worked with me alot to figure out a payment plan that worked with my HSA reimbursement since I do not have ortho coverage on my health insurance. (My treatment time is just 12 months so my services have to be paid for in 12 months but cost the same as kids having braces for the first time that pay over ~24 months, yikes!!!) Highly recommend Dr. Vinson and their new office on Hwy42 rocks:hurray:

On the "initial records fee", I was informed of it when they printed my quotes. It was at the top of the page with the down payment info. I found it to be in line with the other 3 consultations I went to as well. Just know it is going to be there.

Love Dr. Vinson. My daughter went there and everything was told to me on the first visit and like wise the $250.00 was told right up front. Never had any issues with billing or appointments. They would change appointments at the last minute and even fit her in if I needed to changed due to sports or something. They are great and plan on taking my son if he needs them. I have been thinking of the invisalign for myself....How much are they???

Although not as convenient, I love Dr. Walton in Cary. She & her staff are fantastic, I would definitely check them out as well www.TriangleBraces.com

    Good Luck!

Meg, there is a huge variance with Invisalign depending on what you want to achieve and assuming you are a candidate for it. I actually had one ortho recommend "invisalign express" where just my front 5 teeth on the top and bottom were straightened with just 8 trays for about $2500. I chose to have all my teeth adjusted to make space and help correct my bite. So my choice was to have the full Invisalign treatment. I have 18 trays to go thru at 3 weeks each. So I'm looking at 54 weeks of treatment. My cost was $6,000. I did 3 consultations and all the quotes were within $200 for either Invisalign express or Invisalign. Just to compare, I could have done clear braces for the same time period for about $5200.
I had braces when I was 15-17yrs old and had a permanent retainer installed afterwards. Moved here and had a dentist who didn't like cleaning around it and recommended removal, so I listened(BAD decision). A couple years ago my bottom teeth started crowding again and began pushing my top teeth outward. It only took 5 years for that to start happening(I'm 28. Dr. Vinson will be putting my permanent retainer back on when I'm done with Invisalign and if I ever have another dentist who doesn't like it, I'll find a new dentist:lol:

Wow! My young child is the one needing treatment now so that is why I am researching. I had braces many years ago at age 24-26 and paid about $3000 but that was at one of those "everyone pays $99 a month" assembly line places. Thanks for all the info.

Had experience with both Vinson and Devlin, close by and both have an office in Raleigh, think Vinson has one in Wake Forest as well. Both up front with the cost and time frame. Both were great, only difference we had was that at the time of my first child's braces
Dr. Devlin's office did not file insurance, not sure about that now because its been quite some time. So, with the second kiddo we went to Vinson because we'd heard great things about them and they would file with my insurance.
    Good luck
