Hey, My vinyl siding on my house on the sunny side is starting to look chalky looking... Does anyone know what I can do or WHERE I can buy "do it yourself" vinyl siding restoration,,, how I can restore the vinyl myself and with what products and where you can buy them... Thanks a bunch.....

Bump..... No one knows what to do to make vinyl siding look new again? The siding is clean, we wash the house every year, but after 10 years the vinyl is looking dull, and on the sunny side, is very chalkly, Any suggestions? Short of replacing the whole house with new vinyl? It really isn't ready for new vinyl, it just needs to get some life and color back to it....

Have you tried pressure washing it first?

Yes, I have pressure washed it, but it is like a car dashboard that has seen too much sun, and I hate to have to amourall the whole house! Was looking for something easier. Spray and go type thing.

I remember an infomercial that has this stuff to spiff up the color. Something like this. I'm sure lowes or Home Depot sells it so you can do it yourself.

File on you warranty. Find a place you can pull a piece off. Along the nail hole area should be some black ink jet type printing. Google that info. You should find the manufacturer. I think that vinyl crap (yep I said crap cause it is) holds a 75 year warranty. But chalk and fade falls under their fine print.

"* Normal weathering is defined as exposure to ultraviolet light and extremes of weather (including atmospheric pollution and acid rain) which will cause any colored surface to fade, darken, chalk, or acquire dirt or stains."

Also, if you are not the original owner of the house, and a written transfer was not done, the entire warranty is void. Starting to understand now why I call it crap? Had that stuff on my last house, never again. The spray repair vinyl coatings have a 10 year warranty but its pro-rated. It would be cheaper to replace the siding on that one wall.
