Johnston County REACT - The monthly meeting of Johnston County REACT (Radio Emergency Associated Communications Teams) is on the fourth Saturday of each month at 10 a.m. in the Town of Selma Visitors Welcome Center (the old court house) on Anderson Street. Anyone interested in volunteering with REACT is welcome to attend. Visit online at www.myspace.com/johnstonreact or email at johnstonreact@yahoo.com.

Volunteers sought by NCER - Are you fluent in languages other than English? Do you still have good command of your high school Spanish or French? Can you sign with hearing impaired individuals? If so, the North Carolina Emergency Reserves may be seeking you. One of the most common problems encountered in the aftermath of a disaster is the language barrier between some victims and rescuers. Providing relief requires assessing needs. NCER personnel try to help fill that void by having multilingual members in their volunteer disaster corps. Membership in the North Carolina Emergency Reserves is open to all citizens of the state who are at least 18 years of age with no felony record. For information, visit the Web site at www.ncer.us or e-mail ncerpio@yahoo.com.
