Walked out of Capriccio tonight....

I tried, I really did. Let me say that I'm all for supporting local folks.

We arrived at 7:15 and were promptly seated. We were shown to a table with dirty cloths which were immediately replaced only to have the vase knocked over but the bus boy spilling water all over half of the table (and not cleaned up or replaced). We sat down and waited.....and waited and waited...no menus, no greeting, no dry tablecloth, no kiss my butt, nothing. In the meantime, three different wait people came into the area (the sun room), but no one stopped by to say hello or that they would be right with us, or even looked our way. At 7:42, the waitress came to take our order. I said, we haven't even received menus. She disappeared spoke to the hostess and motioned our way. Five more minutes pass before we receive menus. After seven more minutes, at 7:54, we had had enough and decided to leave. I asked to speak with the manager, but he refused to come out.

I think I am more disappointed because I really wanted to like this place and I want it to survive unlike the other three or four attempts. I don't know what it is about independently owned restaurants....they seem to lack standards which probably is too harsh of a word. I have worked in three chain restaurants and all three had a time line. I expect the same standards at any restaurant; 30 seconds to greet the customer, drinks on the table by the two minute mark, etc. I can cut some slack....some slack, but tonight was ridiculous....no even a hello.

We left and went to Ruby Tuesday's. Total time from arrival to departure was 52 minutes.

    I'm just so disappointed. :cry::cry::cry:

Funny we went there tonight, we apparently sat at the same table because the cloth was still wet. I would say we got there a little before 8 PM. Service was definitely not the greatest. It was slow and part of our order was forgotten about and came out later. Food wasnt bad, I had the chicken with pasta and vodka sauce thought the portion was small. However, waitress said this was the busiest night they had so far so maybe they are getting the kinks out. The bill was $84 for four adults and a 5 year old. I would try it again, the menu has a bit of everything

We went for the first time last night as well and also had very poor service. Must have been a bad night. The waitress was very hard to communicate with and we had to point out everything we wanted on the menu to get her to understand what we wanted. Forget about asking questions about the menu. Appetizers, kids' food and my tempura came out at a reasonable time, but the others all had sushi and it took forever to come out. The kids and I were long done eating and the waitress came and asked if we needed anything else. We were like, umm, how about the food? She looked surprised, walked away and 15 minutes later someone else brought the sushi out. Not even a sorry it took so long. Everyone's glass was empty and we had to send someone to find our waitress to get refills. We were there for an hour and a half and it was not due to socializing. We actually left right after we finished eating.

On the positive side, the food was delicious, portions were great, price was reasonable. So we will give it another shot. They need to work on the service end though. I can understand kinks in a new restaurant, but you at least expect an acknowledgement, sorry it took so long, or something. Our waitress definitely left a lot to be desired.

Bottom line, we'll be back, but won't keep coming back if the service does not improve.

The manager refused to come out? That's NOT a good way to satisfy customers. Sounds like the manager knew there were problems and didn't want to do anything about it.

Too bad. They won't last if that attitude continues (and I hope it doesn't continue).

We won't be trying it out just from what I've read on here. The Draft House is our favorite place right now. Good service and good food at a REASONABLE price.

:iagree::hurray: Love the Drafthouse and hadn't gone in forever. Took my son one night not too long ago and now it's all he asks about. We love to eat and watch NASCAR (he's 4:lol:). I know people have had problems there as well, but so far so good for us.

    Bummer.

..been there, done that, at many places. When you eat at a new restaurant you're like a first adopter -i.e. iPod, Prius, Edsel, Windows any version.

Hopefully they'll sort out their processes ASAP and deliver the goods.

Personally, I would give them a couple of months grace before I write them off completely (..of course, this might be BS since I haven't been there at all yet!)

When I travel- not much, anymore- I prefer to eat at local places. I'm afraid that between McDonalds and Applebees etc it's increasingly difficult to distinguish CA from TX from NC or any other state.

Support your local businesses -if they deserve it!

Maybe because they were "new". Maybe they are ironing out the kinks? Maybe you could give them a second chance to support local businesses. I am not saying they were right or wrong. Or you are right or wrong. I understand your frustration but....

    Maybe?

I find it interesting that there was some input on the original thread from owners, but nothing on this one? :?: It's been up for several days now.

Was it the owners, or employees? I thought Blus alerted them to the other thread, and I'm not sure he's been on since this one started, so maybe later . . .
