Need some suggestions for some nice (and safe) walking paths in Clayton. I've recently discovered Sam's Branch greenway. Its okay, not sure what about it I dont like. Is there another way to get to the riverwalk other than Sam's Branch greenway?
You could go a little further up Covered Bridge and access the greenway from the parking lot there. It starts you out on the opposite side of the river from Sam's branch. There is also a parking area on Mial Plantation that would give you access to a different stretch of the greenway.
It only shows a few for the area so far, but Google Maps started plotting bike paths recently: https://www.google.com/maps/@35.688534,-78.4405214,15z/data=!5m1!1e3
Clemmons, I don't care for the paved trails by the river. Kind of boring. I plan on packing up bikes and taking my girls to Umstead one day. I also like to bike/walk in Portofino. They have a large loop trail (about 2 miles I think) that leads to the Neuse and is beautiful.
I like going to Clemmons as well, been going there for nearly 25 years and still like it,only bad thing is that they are closed from November until March.
